My visit to Antigua, Guatemala was entirely too quick — a trip that was meant to be several days longer but cut short by a bus schedule miscalculation.
Yes, this charming town is small and walkable within a short timeframe, but during the 48 hours I had to explore I continuously found hidden gem after hidden gem that yearned for me to stay longer.
If Antigua wasn’t already on your list, I hope these photos will inspire you to add this well-preserved colonial town to an upcoming itinerary. Its colorful and cobblestone streets are already calling me back.

I’ve been twice! In fact, I was just talking with my dad about how we need to schedule another Guatemala trip. When I went for the first time in 2005, we didn’t have Instagram or photo apps like we do now. I would love to go back and recapture the beauty which you have done so beautifully here. I miss the plaza, and the coffee. Hands down Guatemala has the best coffee of any country I’ve ever been to. I could just drink it black, it’s so naturally sweet.
I don’t think I tasted enough coffee while I was there. Looks like I’ll have to go back for that reason! Thanks for reading 🙂
