If there’s one thing that stands out about Cape Town against all of the other cities I’ve visited, it’s the epic views. It seems that no matter which way you look in this South African city, you’re bound to be distracted by some dramatic cliff or stunning cloud cover over the mountains (do yourself a favor and google “cape town tablecloth”), or a hot pink sun setting over a picture perfect beach. Cape Town is a showoff from every angle. With only two weeks to explore this magical place, I tried to hunt for as many pretty views as possible, and not to toot my own horn or anything, but I think I was pretty successful in that endeavor. So without further ado — here are some of the best views in Cape Town that you won’t want to miss during your next trip.
THE BEST VIEWS IN CAPE TOWN FOR EPIC PHOTOS
ABOVE CLIFTON 2ND BEACH
Before you head down the steps for a day spent sunbathing at Clifton 2nd Beach, make sure to snap a shot from above for some serious Gray Malin vibes.
CAMPS BAY TIDAL POOL
The tidal pool at Camps Bay is the perfect spot to catch sunset, especially when the swimmers have gone home for the day and all is still. The more fiery the sky, the more stunning the reflections.
BOULDERS BEACH
You may immediately associate Boulders Beach with penguins, but the stunning views definitely do not get enough credit here. With a mix of golden hour light and misty mountains as a backdrop, Boulders Beach comes alive in a dramatic way.
CHAPMAN’S PEAK
Probably my favorite of all Cape Town views is from Chapman’s Peak Drive, along the coast in Hout Bay. The whole drive is jaw-dropping and features many lookout points along the way, but be prepared to pay a small toll fee in cash for your visit — 100% worth it!
KLOOF ROAD
On the Northwestern tip of Cape Town, you’ll find Kloof Road, a windy scenic drive that runs from Sea Point to Clifton. I love the juxtaposition between mountains and beach from this viewpoint and the best part is that there are benches you can sit at and stay awhile to take in the views.
TABLE MOUNTAIN
An absolute must while visiting this South African metropolis is a ride up the gondola at Table Mountain. At sunset, both the sky and city light up simultaneously putting on a show for those high above.
LION’S HEAD
An easy 20-30 minute hike will get you to the Wally’s Cave section of Lion’s Head where a few well-placed rocks give off the illusion that you’re flying high above the city.
CAMPS BAY
The ocean views from Camps Bay are stunning, but don’t forget to turn around for a breathtaking shot of Lion’s Head glowing in all its glory.
