April and May will mark 7 years since both of my parents passed away 6 weeks apart and while I would never wish the grief I’ve inherited on anyone, losing them both has taught me some beautiful lessons in life.

Most importantly, to love the people in your life hard (and let them know it) because you truly never know how much time you have together.

And second, to not wait another second to do all the things you dream of doing while you have your health and a body that’s able.

It’s a cliché that I don’t think fully sinks in until you’ve battled with your own health or lost the most important people in your life, but it’s 1000% true: all we have is now because tomorrow is never promised

Here’s why you shouldn’t sleep on the Island of Hawai’i when choosing your next Hawaii vacation destination 🌋

Honestly before this trip with @theislandofhawaii, it wasn’t one of the top Hawaiian islands on my list, but after visiting I’ve realized just how underrated it is 😮

As the biggest of the Hawaiian islands, there’s SO much to explore including:

💦 stunning waterfalls
🌊 dramatic coastline
🥾a national park
🏨 luxury hotels
🌋 + some of the most volcanic activity in the world!

Kona is also one of the only places in the world where you can swim with manta rays at night!

And the best part is, it’s not as touristy or crowded as the other islands so you can enjoy many of its beautiful spots with fewer people 🙏🏻

**PLEASE remember to always travel responsibly, stay on trails, respect sacred sites and leave Hawaii better than you found it 🫶🏻

Maybe this is something that’s obvious to everyo

Maybe this is something that’s obvious to everyone else, but it’s really something I’ve had to learn. Peace has always been a huge core value of mine, but it wasn’t until this last year that I realized I’ve been looking at it all wrong 🙅🏼‍♀️

I’ve spent so much of my life avoiding conflict, staying out of the chaos and repelling myself from things that would upset my inner peace because I didn’t want to rock the boat of my nervous system.

While I still believe there’s a place for boundaries in many areas (like content that we consume), experiencing things like discomfort, difficult conversations, and criticism, etc can all temporarily disturb our inner peace but also make us so much stronger on the other side if we allow ourselves to move through them with grace.

The REAL move is if we can get to a place of inner calm despite the chaos that’s inevitably all around us—then we’ve really won the lottery of life. But I think if we’re not careful, striving for peace can act as a great disguise for people pleasing, for not speaking our truth, and even for avoiding our deepest fears.

This is something that’s been on my mind a lot lately and is something I’m still very much learning and working through.

So just thought I’d open the floor here and share a couple questions I’ve been asking myself lately to decipher whether something is really protecting my inner peace or just keeping me small:

〰️ Does this thing I’m avoiding have value if I make it through the discomfort to the other side?

〰️ Is there growth and learning and wisdom to be gained in me going through this challenging experience?

〰️ Is this behavior rooted from a place of fear or is it coming from a place of self love?

Just some random Wednesday thoughts after getting off a very long 24 hours of travel back from the eclipse 🌖 ✈️ Would love to know what you guys think in the comments!
